Fed up with Paris the Fitzgeralds head, once again, to the Riviera. They rent Villa Fleur des Bois in Cannes. Like the Callaghans, the Murphys begin to notice Zelda's sudden bursts of laughter for no apparent reason.

Southern Girl and The Original Follies Girl appear in College Humor with Scott's byline although written by Zelda.

Zelda declines an invitation to dance with the Royal Ballet of Italy in Naples.

The Fitzgeralds return by car to Paris by way of Provence. On the trip back through the mountains Zelda reportedly grabs the steering wheel and tried to steer the car over a cliff. They take an apartment at 10 Rue Pergolese.

The Fitzgeralds travel to North Africa. Zelda's story The Girl the Prince Liked appears in College Humor.

The publication of Scott's First Blood in The Saturday Evening Post. The first of five stories based on a character called Josephine Perry.

Zelda has her first breakdown in Paris. On her way to ballet lessons in a taxi, she changes into her ballet practice clothes. The taxi gets caught up in a traffic jam. Worried that she is going to be late for practice Zelda jumps out of the taxi and runs through the streets of Paris in her ballet clothes to Madame Egorova's practice studio. Scott enters her into Malmaison clinic outside Paris. Zelda discharges herself on May 11.
