Michael Harrison’s West End musicals include Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at the London Palladium, Fiddler on the Roof at The Playhouse, Mel Brooks’ Young Frankenstein at the Garrick, Annie at the Piccadilly, Mrs Henderson Presents at the Noel Coward, Gypsy at the Savoy and The Bodyguard at the Adelphi and Dominion Theatres.

In 2020 his production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat will return to the London Palladium. In addition he will produce a revival of Jonathan Church’s production of Singin’ in the Rain at Sadler’s Wells, a major revival of Hello, Dolly! Starring Imelda Staunton at the Adelphi and The Drifters Girl starring Beverley Knight at the Garrick.

He is managing director of Qdos Entertainment and has created over 100 pantomimes for the company. He also created Cinderella, Dick Whittington, Snow White and Goldilocks and the Three Bears at the iconic London Palladium. In 2018 Dick Whittington won the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Entertainment and Family. In addition, he has directed fifteen consecutive pantomimes at the Theatre Royal Newcastle, ten productions at Birmingham Hippodrome, two at the Theatre Royal Plymouth and Mayflower Theatre Southampton and Aladdin with John Barrowman at the SEC Glasgow.

Gypsy won four Laurence Olivier Awards including Best Musical Revival and was filmed for transmission on television both in the UK and the USA.

The Bodyguard is a worldwide global hit, having played in Canada, Australia, Holland, Germany, Italy, South Korea, USA, China, France, South Africa, Vienna, Spain and Japan.

With Cameron Mackintosh he produced the Chichester Festival Theatre production of Barnum.

With David Ian, he produced the national tour of Sunset Boulevard and the first national tour of Benidorm Live.

His other musicals include tours of Aspects of Love, The Witches of Eastwick, Chess, I Dreamed A Dream, Jolson and Co, Annie, Funny Girl and Beautiful.

In 2012 he was awarded a companionship to the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts by Sir Paul McCartney, and in 2017 the Freedom of the City, Newcastle upon Tyne, in recognition of his services to theatre in the region.
